FACT SHEET: The Administration’s Mass Deportation Operations Is an Affront to Accountability and Public Safety

The Trump administration has launched a massive expansion of immigration enforcement operations across the country, marked by escalating violence, zero accountability, and the systematic dismantling of public safety infrastructure. On January 7, 2026, 37-year-old U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis – ​​the latest and most tragic example in a growing pattern of brutality and overreach that is making every American less safe.

The administration is rapidly militarizing its immigration enforcement workforce while gutting resources from critical public safety priorities – including spending $8 million in taxpayer funds to pay influencers to push pro-ICE propaganda online. These developments expose a dangerous reality: ICE has gone rogue with no accountability whatsoever, training standards have collapsed, and community safety is being sacrificed to manufacture consent for an extremist ideological agenda.

Operating with Impunity: How ICE Is Undermining Trust in Law Enforcement:

Throughout the Trump administration’s enforcement expansion, federal immigration agents have been operating with a shocking lack of restraint, transparency, and accountability – deliberately provoking dangerous encounters and making it nearly impossible for communities to know who is detaining people – or to hold anyone responsible when constitutional rights are violated.

Deliberate Tactics To Conceal Identity And Evade Accountability:

• In a pattern documented across multiple jurisdictions, ICE officers have been using multiple tactics to obscure their identity – including wearing masks to conceal their faces, dressed in plainclothes without personal identifiers, and using unmarked vehicles with fake license plates to conceal operations.
• ICE has long operated with far less oversight than other law enforcement, and the ongoing failure to equip agents with body cameras continues to mean little-to-no accountability when abuses occur.
• Members of Congress have been denied access to ICE detention facilities, with the DHS Secretary issuing an order restricting congressional visits – blocking even basic oversight.
• Operating under the cover of anonymity has consistently damaged public trust and created an environment where violations go unchecked.

  • In numerous cases documented across the country, from the deadly shooting of Renee Nicole Good to a U.S. citizen woman shot five times by Border Patrol to a U.S. citizen man tased in the face while being detained, violent tactics have been escalating across the country.
    • The aggression has included car windows smashed, Black Hawk helicopters flown in the dark of night over sleeping families, chemical agents deployed near schools, zip ties used on children, and smoke grenades thrown at peaceful protesters.
  • Pregnant women and children are not spared: a pregnant U.S. citizen woman had the door of her home blown off during a raid and a U.S. citizen child with cancer was made to lie on a cold floor as she awaited deportation with her family.

Violating Sanctuary In Traditionally Safe Spaces:

• Since Trump returned to the White House last January, we have witnessed a pattern of militarized tactics deployed even in traditionally safe community spaces – schools, hospitals, and places of worship – fulfilling a Project 2025 demand and spreading fear among children, families, and entire neighborhoods.

• Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF): 80% of the agency’s 2,500 agents have been pulled into immigration enforcement, stretching resources thin and diverting focus from investigating gun trafficking, bombings, and arson.
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA): Roughly 50% of DEA agents have been reassigned from targeting drug cartels and fentanyl traffickers to carrying out immigration raids.
• Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI): Agents now spend 20% of their time on immigration cases, violent crime and other investigations take a backseat.
